TDM Signaling Support for Older Generation Switches

Focus

In many regions, TDM networks still predominantly contain older generation circuit switches. In such reqions, it is quite frequent that organizations and telecom operators are in need to connect their existing switches to some newer generation switches or equipment. Many organizations and telecom operators focus on how to get some TDM signaling schemes, which are not supported in their core TDM networks.

Solution

Stillink systems give organizations and telecom operators the advantage of being able to add newer generation TDM signaling support to their old TDM network infrastructure more quickly and at lower cost than would be the case if they upgraded their existing core network switches.

Stillink systems have fully non-blocking circuit switching technology and can handle very high call volumes without congestion. The all-protocol switching capability contained in Stillink systems provide a bridge to today`s heterogeneous TDM networks. Furthermore, advanced routing capabilities provide easy and flexible E1 signaling conversion management.
 
Stillink systems provide solutions for:

  • ISDN - SS7 signaling conversion
  • CAS - SS7 signaling conversion
  • CAS - ISDN signaling conversion

requirements.

Implementation

Stillink systems are capable of inter-working between all their TDM signaling/protocol schemes. Each variant of incoming and outgoing TDM access associated with a signaling system generates and receives inter-working telephony events according to on-line, real-time procedures specified for each signaling system in the relevant standards and recommendations. Stillink systems support the following signaling and protocol types for the TDM access:

  • Channel-Associated Signaling (CAS)
    • Single-bit E&M emulation
    • Two-bit ITU-T R1
    • Two-bit ITU-T R2
    • Many variations of signaling types (such as CL-1B, OCL-1B, TCL-1B, CL-1VF, OCL-1VF, TCL-1VF, SL/ZSL, SLM) widely employed in CIS countries
  • Common-Channel Signaling (CCS)
    • DSS1 (Euro-ISDN in the TE direction)
    • DSS1 (Euro-ISDN in the NT direction)
    • ECMA QSIG (in the TE direction)
    • ECMA QSIG (in the NT direction)
    • ITU-T Signaling System No.7 ISUP   

In Stillink ISDN - SS7 Signaling Converters and CAS - ISDN Signaling Converters, each ISDN TDM access is programmable as:

  • DSS1 (Euro-ISDN in the TE direction) or
  • DSS1 (Euro-ISDN in the NT direction) or
  • ECMA QSIG (in the TE direction) or
  • ECMA QSIG (in the NT direction)

with simple commands.

Similarly, in Stillink CAS - SS7 Signaling Converters and CAS - ISDN Signaling Converters, each CAS TDM access is programmable as:
